Don't Toss Your Shoes
There are over 7 billion people existing on the Earth, and if every person only had one pair of shoes, that would mean 14 billion individual shoes on earth at this moment. This number is a rough estimate, but it is likely higher because the majority of people own multiple pairs. Regardless of the number of shoes in the world, at some point each shoe will deteriorate in condition, and come to the end of its life cycle. However, what generally happens to shoes when they can no longer be used?
Often, people are quick to throw out old shoes, and they normally end up in the landfill. On the surface, this does not seem like a huge problem, because the landfill is where trash belongs, but it negatively affects the planet. When old shoes sit in a landfill for an extended period of time, the harmful chemicals used in the manufacturing process slowly soak into our Earth's soil. This contaminates the soil, and could potentially contaminate our drinking water. These contaminants can lead to serious health issues for animals and humans, including cancer.
You can make a difference by donating your old shoes to HJM incorporated. We strive to do our part, and help others in sustaining a healthy environment. We accept shoes in any condition, and recycle the material to be of use for our own production. It is important that we all strive to keep our planet clean, so that future generations will not suffer from our mistakes.
