Straight From the Cork

Many people associate corks with the plugging of luxury products such as wine and eateries. Consumers also disassociate the possibility of cork being implemented as an environmentally sustainable substitution for harmful chemicals.

Cork, another environmentally friendly alternative has posed mass amounts of improvements through the substitution of detrimental shoe material. The same cork that is used to sustain luxury products such as wine and other food products has also been acclaimed to be the best alternative for shoe products. The cork is harvested straight from a cork oak tree, which means that the production process is minimal, requiring only a simple harvest to be prepared for usage. 

Along with the benefits of environmental sustainability, the harvesting of cork from the oak trees also increases the life of the tree 3 times longer than it would without harvesting. Cork leather also provides a pleasant wearing experience, being compared to material such as memory foam. The main benefit that comes with the implementation of cork leather is the breakdown process that comes after the usage of the shoe product. The material leaves little-to-no carbon footprint, with the cork seemingly feeding into the environment once thrown away or decomposed.
